IN-HOUSE COMMERCIAL CAPABILITY
Custom Metal Fabrication
Project-specific steel components, field modifications, stairs, railings, supports, canopies, and practical fabricated details for commercial construction.
Fabrication That Solves a Construction Need
Commercial projects often require steel details that do not arrive in a standard building package. Existing conditions vary, equipment needs support, openings change, architectural elements require custom connections, and field dimensions must be translated into parts that fit. Lund Ventures Construction provides custom metal fabrication as part of complete building projects and selected specialty scopes.
Because our fabrication and construction teams work together, details are considered in the context of installation, access, coatings, tolerances, safety, and the surrounding building systems.
Common Fabricated Components
Stairs & Landings
Commercial stairs, platforms, landings, stringers, tread supports, and connection details coordinated with the structure.
Railings & Guards
Interior and exterior guardrails, handrails, equipment barriers, bollards, and durable welded assemblies.
Canopies & Frames
Entry canopies, equipment covers, support frames, roof extensions, awnings, and specialty exterior steel.
Equipment Supports
Platforms, curbs, brackets, frames, bases, and structural supports for mechanical or operational equipment.
Building Modifications
Framing for new openings, reinforcement, infill, additions, mezzanine components, and connection adjustments.
Repairs & Field Solutions
Replacement parts, damaged-component repairs, field-measured assemblies, and time-sensitive construction details.
From Field Measurement to Installation
- Define the load and purpose: the component must match its intended structural, safety, or operational function.
- Verify dimensions: existing buildings require careful field measurement and awareness of out-of-square conditions.
- Coordinate connections: bolts, welds, embeds, anchors, clearances, and erection sequence should be resolved before fabrication.
- Select materials and finish: environment, corrosion exposure, appearance, and maintenance affect steel type and coating.
- Plan installation: access, lifting, temporary support, work around occupants, and adjacent finishes influence the final detail.
Why Contractor-Led Fabrication Helps
A drawing can describe a part without fully addressing how it will be installed. Our experience in steel erection, excavation, concrete coordination, and general construction helps us fabricate assemblies that account for the jobsite. When a detail affects foundations, framing, doors, roofing, equipment, or tenant space, one coordinated team can reduce redesign and delays.
We can work from engineered drawings, architectural details, approved sketches, or field conditions that require design-team coordination. Structural components must follow applicable engineering and code requirements; we do not substitute fabrication judgment for required engineering.
Commercial and Industrial Applications
Our fabrication work supports steel shops, warehouses, self-storage properties, commercial buildouts, agricultural facilities, equipment buildings, and specialty owner improvements. Projects may be included within a larger Lund Ventures general-contracting scope or evaluated as a defined fabrication and installation package.
Related capabilities include commercial steel construction, site development, structural welding, and our project gallery.
Metal Fabrication FAQs
Can you fabricate from a field sketch?
Some non-structural items can begin with field measurements and an approved sketch. Structural or code-regulated components may require engineered details before fabrication.
Can you install what you fabricate?
Yes. Installation can often be included so dimensions, connections, access, lifting, and final fit remain under one coordinated scope.
Do you perform repairs on existing steel buildings?
We evaluate repairs, reinforcements, opening modifications, replacement components, and additions based on access, condition, engineering needs, and project schedule.
Have a Custom Steel Detail?
Send drawings, photos, approximate dimensions, location, and the component’s intended use. We will review whether it fits our fabrication capabilities.
