Mac Lund – Hands-On Steel, Dirt & Construction Experience

McKenzie (“Mac”) Lund brings over 12 years of real, boots-on-the-ground construction experience to every project. His background spans fabrication, structural steel, steel erection, welding, framing, excavation, concrete, drywall, painting, trim, project management, and general contracting across Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

Mac started as a general laborer and worked his way up to running crews and full projects. He’s been responsible for time and labor management, jobsite safety, estimating and bidding, job-costing, invoicing, procurement, and owner communication— all while making sure the field work is done right. That combination of hands-on skill and project leadership is what Lund Ventures brings to mini storage, steel building, residential, and support-service jobs.

Field & Project Experience

  • Eagle Scout (2009) – early focus on leadership, planning and follow-through.
  • Ultimate Steel Erection (2012) – general laborer working on red iron and PBR panels, helping erect multiple steel buildings from start to finish across Idaho, Montana & Wyoming.
  • Structural Steel Inc. / Lundahl Building Systems (2012–2018) – progressed from laborer to foreman specializing in structural steel, joist & decking, red iron, insulated metal panels (IMP), and hybrid systems in environments like food plants, hospitals, colleges and the oil fields.
  • Iron Man Metal Buildings / Iron Man Enterprises (2018–Present) – foreman/superintendent and general contractor building commercial red iron projects and managing full scopes: concrete, framing, drywall, finishes, painting and more. General contracted multi-million-dollar projects including Orepac Lumber and Artisan Labs.
  • Moved into estimating and full company management—handling licensing, permitting, scheduling, bids/quotes, subcontractor management, and long-term owner relationships.

Certifications & Skillsets

  • Certified Metl-Span insulated metal panel installer (cold storage, walkable IMP ceilings, horizontal & vertical).
  • Certified in structural stick welding; experienced with flux-core welding (prior certs lapsed when moving into foreman role).
  • OSHA 10-hour certified, aerial lift/forklift certified, certified rigger, CPR/First Aid certified.
  • Experienced with Hilti and Pneutek decking fastener systems, Nelson stud guns, and seismic upgrades/UT testing.
  • Competent operator of heavy excavation equipment and familiar with cranes, lift planning, and rigging on complex structural jobs.
  • Daily foreman responsibilities included safety enforcement, pre-task planning, job hazard analysis, Bluebeam redlines, RFIs, change-order tracking, man-hour tracking, and coordination with engineers and GCs.

Over the years, Mac has seen that the difference between an average project and a great one comes down to honest relationships and clear communication with owners, subs, suppliers and crews. Lund Ventures is built around that mindset—doing what we say we’ll do, and delivering work that holds up in real conditions.
